Tango Argentino is more than just a dance. Doted as the most sensual couples dance, tango is finding more and more aficionados, including from the queer community.
Berlin is a queer haven as well as the biggest tango metropolis in the world after Buenos Aires. Nevertheless, gays, lesbians or transsexuals are not necessarily commonplace on Berlin's dance floors.
Queer Tango Berlin has its roots in the queer tango scene and offers all lesbians, gays, transgenders as well as heteros the possibility to get acquainted with tango and to discover the dance together. Participants can then easily establish contacts to other queer tangueras and tangueros and open-minded tango enthusiasts.
At the same time, we make a point of not closing ourselves off to the general tango scene and encourage participants to dance at the "regular" milongas of the city. We believe that Tango Argentino is not so much a gender-based, erotic dance between a man and a woman, but rather an encounter that takes shape independently of sexual identities. Tango Argentino means to discover one another through movement, to enjoy one another through music and to make new personal experiences through dance.
However, sensuality is not rejected - on the contrary!
